Short answer

Greenbox Capital has the strongest record of any funder we have examined recently: A plus with the BBB, accredited since 2014, trading since 2012, and just 2 total complaints in three years. There is no enforcement action against it. The single most instructive thing on the profile is one of those two complaints, in which a business owner reports discovering a judgment against their company that they say they knew nothing about.

This page summarizes what the public record shows as of September 21, 2026. Rating, accreditation date, incorporation date, complaint counts and complaint text were read directly from the company's Better Business Bureau profile. No state or federal enforcement action against Greenbox Capital could be located.

What the record shows

BBB rating:

A plus, and a BBB accredited business.

Accredited since:

5/5/2014, which is twelve years of continuous accreditation.

Business started:

8/10/2012, operating from 2200 Biscayne Blvd, Miami, Florida.

Years in business:

14.

Complaints:

2 total complaints in the last 3 years, with 0 complaints closed in the last 12 months.

Enforcement:

no state or federal action located.

Two complaints across three years, at a business trading since 2012 and accredited since 2014, is about as clean as this industry produces. The accreditation date matters here in the opposite direction to most profiles: twelve years of accredited history means the complaint record was compiled while the BBB was actively mediating, so the number carries real weight rather than being an artefact of a recent sign-up.

The complaint worth reading

Both complaints are worth knowing about, but one of them describes something that every business owner considering a merchant cash advance should understand before signing.

Complaint dated 11/10/2023, customer service issues, answered

The merchant states that they had just learned there was a judgment in their company's name, that they knew nothing about it, and that they had filed a police report because they believed it was not legitimate.

The outcome

The outcome recorded on the profile is that the company answered the complaint. Nothing has been adjudicated, and we have no way to know from the public record whether the judgment was valid, disputed, or the result of something else entirely.

The practical takeaway is not about this company. It is that discovering a judgment you did not know existed is a recognised feature of how this industry has historically worked, and there is a specific contractual mechanism behind it.

How a judgment appears without a hearing

A confession of judgment is a clause under which a business, and usually its owner personally, agrees in advance that judgment may be entered against them without notice and without a hearing if the funder declares a default.

Where one is enforceable, the sequence is short. The funder declares a breach, files the signed confession, and a judgment is entered. The first the merchant hears of it is often a frozen bank account, a levy on receivables, or a credit report entry.

New York restricted enforcement of confessions of judgment against out-of-state debtors in 2019, which changed the picture in the venue where much of this industry litigates. Enforceability still varies by state, and older agreements can carry clauses written before that change.

What the record does not give you is any way to know whether your own agreement contains one. That is a question for your paperwork, not for a review site, and the time to answer it is before a payment is missed.

What Greenbox actually provides

Greenbox Capital provides merchant cash advances and related small business funding. The structure is standard for the category and the mechanics are what matter.

An advance purchases a fixed amount of your future receipts rather than lending you money. You receive a purchase price and owe a larger purchased amount, and the gap between the two is the entire cost. There is no interest rate in the document, which is why the product falls outside interest rate regulation. Repayment comes out by ACH on a fixed schedule, and an owner is normally asked to sign a personal guaranty.

One important limitation applies regardless of how well a funder is rated: the debit is fixed and your revenue is not. The reconciliation clause is the only thing in the agreement that lets the two move together, and it generally requires you to ask, in writing, with documentation.

Reading a genuinely clean record

Two limitations are worth stating, because they cut in opposite directions.

The record here is good and should be reported as good. Twelve years accredited with two complaints is not the profile of a company generating systematic harm, and pretending otherwise to make a point would be dishonest.

What the record does not give you is affordability. Complaint volume measures how a company handles people who complain. It tells you nothing about whether a fixed daily debit fits your deposits. Those are separate questions and a well-run funder can still write an advance your business cannot carry.

Frequently asked questions

Is Greenbox Capital legitimate?

Its Better Business Bureau profile shows an A plus rating, accreditation since 5/5/2014, and 2 total complaints in the last 3 years. The business started on 8/10/2012 in Miami, Florida. No state or federal enforcement action against Greenbox Capital could be located.

What do the complaints say?

There are two on the BBB record over three years. The one dated 11/10/2023 describes a merchant who states they had just learned of a judgment in their company's name, knew nothing about it, and filed a police report. The company answered the complaint. Nothing has been adjudicated.

How can a judgment be entered without me knowing?

Through a confession of judgment, a clause under which a business and usually its owner agree in advance that judgment may be entered without notice or a hearing if the funder declares a default. New York restricted enforcement against out-of-state debtors in 2019, and enforceability varies by state. Check whether your own agreement contains one.

Is a Greenbox advance a loan?

No. It purchases a fixed amount of your future receipts. There is no interest rate in the agreement. The cost is the gap between the purchase price you receive and the purchased amount you owe, taken by fixed ACH debits, normally with a personal guaranty from the owner.

Does a twelve-year accreditation guarantee anything?

It makes the complaint record meaningful, which a recent accreditation does not. It does not tell you whether an advance is affordable for your business. Complaint handling and cash-flow fit are different questions and a good answer to the first says nothing about the second.

If the payments are the problem

If a Greenbox debit is taking more out of the account than the business reliably produces, the rating is not the relevant fact. What matters is the purchased amount still outstanding, what your reconciliation clause entitles you to request and what documentation it demands, whether a confession of judgment sits in the paperwork, and whether any UCC filing is on record against the business. Establishing those four things while debits are still clearing leaves you far more room than waiting until they stop.
