Short answer
Advance Funds Network, LLC (AFN) is a Brooklyn, New York business funding company that offers merchant cash advances alongside term loans, lines of credit and a consolidation loan. Its own terms of service say it provides funding through "direct funding subsidiaries and third-party lenders and funders," and California's financial regulator licensed it as a finance broker, according to its 2020 and 2023 orders. Its main BBB profile is accredited with an A+ rating and shows 1 complaint in the last three years. The record also includes two California consent orders over annual reports filed late, in 2020 and 2023, and five federal lawsuits naming the company as a defendant between 2015 and 2025, three of them over marketing faxes or text messages. All five are closed, and none ended in a judgment on the merits. If you have an agreement arranged through AFN and the payments no longer fit your revenue, the funder named on that agreement, and its terms, decide your options.

What Advance Funds Network sells
AFN describes itself as a financial services company serving small and medium-sized businesses in the United States and Canada "since 2008." Its website lists SBA loans, business term loans, lines of credit, working capital loans, equipment financing, merchant cash advances and a business debt consolidation loan.
Merchant cash advance.
The site defines an MCA as a lump sum paid back "through daily or weekly deductions" from sales, and says advances "generally have higher costs than traditional loans." It describes revenue-based financing with "no rigid credit checks" and lists eligibility as projected annual revenue of $180,000 and a credit score of at least 500.
Consolidation loan.
Marketed as one bill, one payment date and one rate for a business carrying several debts. The page headline says "No Minimum Credit Score Required," while the same page lists a minimum credit score of 500.
True-ups.
The FAQ says some programs include a true-up, an adjustment when fixed withdrawals exceed the agreed percentage of sales, and that true-ups "are typically requested by the business" with bank statements.
The stated minimums differ from page to page. The home page asks for 1 year in business and $15,000 a month in revenue; the About page says 6 months and $15,000 a month; the How It Works page says 6 months and $180,000 or more over the past 12 months, plus three months of bank statements. The site says AFN does not fund startups, never charges upfront fees and has funded some clients in about four hours. These are the company's statements, and we have not verified them.
The MCA page also refers to "fixed monthly payments," while the same page and the site's FAQ say MCA repayment is typically made through daily or weekly deductions. Your agreement, not the marketing page, sets the payment schedule.
AFN also recruits referral sources. Its FAQ says partners earn a commission when a referred client is funded, and affiliates are paid per qualified lead.

The California regulator record
California's Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (formerly the Department of Business Oversight) has licensed AFN as a finance broker under the California Financing Law, license 60DBO-63355, according to its 2020 and 2023 orders. Licensees must file an annual report by March 15. The department's enforcement page lists four actions, all tied to that report:
2020.
After AFN did not file its report by the deadline or within the notice period, the Commissioner summarily revoked the license on April 3, 2020. AFN requested a hearing and filed the report on May 6, 2020, 37 business days late. In a consent order dated May 11, 2020, the Commissioner rescinded the revocation and AFN agreed to pay a $1,000 administrative penalty. The order also records AFN's representation that it had taken no new applications under its license.
2023.
The same sequence repeated. The license was summarily revoked on May 3, 2023, AFN requested a hearing, and it filed the report on June 9, 2023, 61 business days late. In a consent order dated June 20, 2023, the Commissioner rescinded the revocation and AFN agreed to pay a $5,000 administrative penalty.
Both orders concern late paperwork. Neither makes findings about how AFN treated any business it funded or referred, and in both cases the revocation was rescinded.
The court record
Federal docket listings show five lawsuits naming Advance Funds Network as a defendant:
G. Neil Garrett, D.D.S., P.C. v. Advance Funds Network, LLC
, No. 1:15-cv-05616, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois, filed June 24, 2015. An Illinois corporation filed a proposed class action alleging that AFN sent or caused an unsolicited fax advertisement, under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the Illinois Consumer Fraud Act and common law. The parties reported a settlement, and on September 24, 2015 the court dismissed the case without prejudice, to become with prejudice on November 20, 2015.
Gadke v. Advance Funds Network LLC
, No. 1:22-cv-02417, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of New York, filed April 28, 2022. A Florida resident filed a proposed class action under the Florida Telephone Solicitation Act, alleging marketing text messages to a number on the National Do Not Call Registry. AFN answered and moved to dismiss for lack of jurisdiction; the docket shows no ruling on that motion. The plaintiff filed a notice of settlement on March 2, 2023, and the court granted a stipulation of dismissal on April 4, 2023.
Sprouse v. Advance Funds Nerwork LLC
(the name is misspelled in the caption), No. 2:22-cv-00247, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Indiana, filed August 23, 2022. The docket classifies it as a TCPA class action and lists an exhibit of texts. After a court notice that the case could be dismissed for failure to serve the defendant, the plaintiff dismissed it voluntarily, and the court closed it without prejudice on December 8, 2022.
Steele Logistics Inc. v. Advance Funds Network LLC
, No. 2:24-cv-07108, U.S. District Court, Central District of California. The case was removed from state court on August 21, 2024 and is classified as a contract case. Filings in later, unrelated California cases cite a February 10, 2025 ruling in it, which the docket lists under "Dismiss Case"; we have not read that ruling, and the docket listing does not say what it decided or which claims or parties it addressed. A mediation report filed February 26, 2025 is marked "completely settled," a voluntary dismissal was filed on June 23, 2025, and the case was closed on July 8, 2025.
Cardenas v. Advance Funds Network LLC
, No. 1:25-cv-05442, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of New York, filed September 29, 2025. The listing does not state the claim. A notice of voluntary dismissal was filed April 13, 2026, and the case was closed the next day.
Allegations are not findings, and none of these cases ended in a judgment on the merits. Three of the five involve marketing faxes or text messages.
A CourtListener search finds "Advance Funds Network" in the text of 11 federal dockets, including the five suits above. The rest are cases between other parties, among them two bankruptcy cases in which the name appears on service or creditor lists and three California cases whose filings cite the Steele Logistics ruling.
Who Advance Funds Network fits
AFN is built for established businesses with steady deposits that want an answer quickly. Because it offers several products, first pin down which one you are being offered: a merchant cash advance and a term loan are different contracts with different costs. Because funding can come through subsidiaries or third-party funders, ask before you sign which company will be named on the agreement, what the total payback is, how often the payment is debited, and whether there is a true-up or reconciliation clause. If you are offered the consolidation loan, ask whether the payoffs go directly to your existing funders at closing; our page on MCA consolidation lenders explains why that matters. Our guide to what MCA brokers promise covers the questions to ask any intermediary.
If the payments are more than your business can carry
- Collect every agreement, renewal and add-on you signed through AFN, note which funder is named on each, and gather the payment history.
- Check for a personal guaranty, an adjustment or reconciliation clause, and a confession of judgment.
- Ask in writing for a payment adjustment if your agreement provides one. Our explainer on MCA reconciliation covers what to look for.
- Blocking debits or moving your account can be treated as a default under many agreements; check your contract before acting. Our guide on stopping daily MCA payments explains the risks.
- Check your paperwork and court notices for deadlines.
- If you are weighing bankruptcy, read MCA settlement vs. bankruptcy first.
If you are behind or close to it, talk to Business Debt Adjusters about your agreements before you miss a payment.
Advance Funds Network reviews: common questions
Is Advance Funds Network BBB accredited?
Yes. Advance Funds Network, LLC of Brooklyn has been BBB accredited since 5/11/2010. The BBB gives it an A+ rating and shows 1 complaint in the last three years, marked answered. Two newer BBB profiles for its New Jersey and Florida offices are rated A+, are not accredited and show no complaints.
Is Advance Funds Network a direct lender or a broker?
Both roles appear in the record. Its terms of service say it offers funding through direct funding subsidiaries and third-party lenders and funders, and California's 2023 consent order describes it as a licensed finance broker. Before you sign, ask which company will be named on your agreement.
Has Advance Funds Network been sued?
Yes. Federal docket listings show five suits naming it as a defendant, filed from 2015 to 2025. Three involve marketing faxes or text messages, one is a contract case and one does not state the claim. All five are closed, and none ended in a judgment on the merits.
What did California regulators do?
California's financial regulator summarily revoked AFN's finance broker license in 2020 and again in 2023 because it had not filed its annual report after notice. Each time AFN requested a hearing, filed the report and signed a consent order that rescinded the revocation, with penalties of $1,000 and $5,000. The orders concern late filings, not how AFN treated customers.
Where is Advance Funds Network located?
The BBB lists 464 Kings Highway, 2nd Floor, Brooklyn, NY 11223, and the company's website lists the same Brooklyn address plus offices in Toronto, Oakhurst, NJ and Hollywood, FL. New York records show the LLC was first filed on 01/07/2008.
What should I do if I can't afford my Advance Funds Network payments?
Gather your agreements and payment history, check for a guaranty and an adjustment clause, and request any adjustment in writing. Blocking debits or moving your account can be treated as a default under many agreements; check your contract before acting. Then decide who negotiates.
