Short answer

Pearl Capital is a merchant cash advance company that says it was founded in 2010 and funds small businesses through a network of brokers, which it calls ISOs. Its BBB-listed entity, Pearl Capital Business Funding, LLC of Jersey City, New Jersey, is not BBB accredited and has a B- rating, which the BBB attributes to one complaint the company did not answer. Trustpilot shows 2.6 on 5 reviews, all one star. The court record is larger than the review record: the Pearl Capital Business Funding name appears in the text of at least 26 federal dockets, and two New York decisions about different Pearl entities' agreements reached different results on whether the specific agreement was usurious. If you signed with Pearl, start by finding which Pearl entity is named on your agreement.

This page summarizes what the public record shows as of October 22, 2026. The rating, accreditation, dates, management and complaint record were read directly from the company's Better Business Bureau profile and complaints page. The federal court records come from docket listings on CourtListener, and the New York decisions from the official reporter and published case citations. Company figures come from Pearl Capital's own website. We did not find a state or federal regulator action against the company in our searches, which is not proof that none exists.

Who Pearl Capital is

Pearl Capital's website describes the company as a provider of "short term capital advance solutions for under-banked and credit-challenged businesses." It says it has provided "over 23,267 financings to small businesses across the country" and handles "deals up to one-million dollars." These are the company's figures. We have not verified them.

Most of the site is written for brokers rather than merchants. It describes an ISO portal, a price calculator, a syndication program and a "white label" program that lets brokers run their own merchant cash advance brand on Pearl's platform. It says Pearl welcomes "all small businesses with at least 3 months operational history and any FICO score." That matters if you are trying to work out who you dealt with: a merchant funded by Pearl may have spoken only to a broker, not to Pearl.

The site's terms of use name Pearl Capital Business Funding, LLC and give a customer service address at 100 William Street, Suite 900, New York, NY 10038. The BBB lists the same company at 525 Washington Blvd, Floor 22, Jersey City, NJ 07310. Pearl's about page lists Solomon Lax as Chief Executive Officer, John Diamond as President, and Oded Segev as CFO, COO and Head of Asset Recovery.

Several Pearl names in the record

Court records use more than one entity name with "Pearl" in it:

Pearl Capital Business Funding, LLC

is the entity on the BBB profile and in the website's terms of use. Its name appears in the text of at least 26 federal dockets on CourtListener, most of them bankruptcy cases filed by small businesses; a few mentions are citations in other funders' cases.

Pearl Capital Rivis Ventures, LLC

brought collection actions in bankruptcy courts in 2013 and was the plaintiff in a 2016 New York usury decision described below.

Pearl Beta Funding, LLC

was the funder in the 2018 New York appellate decision described below, which other merchant cash advance cases often cite.

Pearl Cash LLC, doing business as Pearl Capital

, was the plaintiff in a 2012 bankruptcy adversary proceeding in Illinois.

We have not confirmed from a primary record that all of these entities belong to one company. Pearl Delta Funding, LLC, which is named alongside Pearl Capital Business Funding, LLC as a co-defendant in No. 25-03111 (Bankr. W.D.N.C.), has its own page on our site. For your purposes, the entity named in the first paragraph of your agreement is the one that governs.

The one BBB complaint

The single complaint on the BBB file, dated April 2, 2025, came from a business owner who says they had a loan from Pearl more than ten years earlier, sold the store, and expected the buyer to pay the balance. When the buyer did not, the owner says they paid once they learned of it, but that Pearl had filed a judgment and reported it to a third-party database, which the owner says now makes it harder to get funded. The complaint is marked unanswered. Complaints are the filer's account and are not verified, but it is a useful reminder: a balance that follows a business through a sale can still end in a judgment against the original owner and guarantor.

Two New York rulings on Pearl agreements

2016, Westchester County. In Pearl Capital Rivis Ventures, LLC v. RDN Construction, Inc., 54 Misc. 3d 470 (Sup. Ct. Westchester County, decided October 25, 2016), Pearl sued RDN Construction. Published summaries of the decision report that, after granting Pearl a default judgment, the court held a hearing on damages and treated the advance as a loan rather than a purchase of receivables and found it criminally usurious, noting that Pearl could not point to a non-recourse term, that the owner had given a personal guaranty, and that the contract implied an interest rate of about 180% a year; the court denied Pearl any recovery.

2018, Appellate Division, First Department. In Champion Auto Sales, LLC v. Pearl Beta Funding, LLC, 159 A.D.3d 507 (decided March 15, 2018), merchants asked the court to vacate a judgment entered by confession under a Pearl Beta Funding agreement. The appellate court affirmed dismissal of their complaint, holding that the evidence showed the agreement was not usurious.

Read together, the two cases show why the wording of your own agreement matters more than the label on it. Whether a reconciliation clause exists and actually works, whether the funder bears the risk if the business fails, and whether a confession of judgment was signed all decide how a court will treat the contract. Our guide to confessions of judgment and merchant cash advance agreement guide explain what to look for.

Other court records

Pearl Capital Business Funding LLC v. Pastor

, No. 2:26-cv-08548, U.S. District Court, District of New Jersey, filed July 10, 2026. The docket listing does not state the nature of the claim, and we have not read the complaint.

Calderin v. Pearl Capital Business Funding, LLC

, Adv. No. 21-01207, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of Florida, filed June 24, 2021 and closed March 11, 2022.

Cohen v. Pearl Capital Rivis Ventures LLC

, 2026 NY Slip Op 30077(U), New York state court. A former employee's wage claim under the New York Labor Law; the court denied the defendants' motion to dismiss and for summary judgment. It is not a merchant dispute.

Collection actions in bankruptcy courts:

Pearl Capital Rivis Ventures, LLC v. Sobkiewicz (W.D. Pa., No. 13-02076, 2013); Pearl Capital Rivis Ventures LLC v. T.F. Relocators, Inc. (N.D. Tex., No. 13-04034, 2013); and Pearl Cash LLC, d/b/a Pearl Capital v. Andrzejewski (N.D. Ill., No. 12-01451, 2012).

Docket listings show that a case was filed, not who won it, and allegations are not findings.

Who Pearl Capital fits

On its own description, Pearl serves businesses that banks turn down: short operating histories, low credit scores and fast deadlines. Those are also the businesses with the least room if a second advance is added on top of the first. If you are considering a Pearl offer, compare the total payback with the cash you will actually receive after fees, ask the broker which entity will sign, and read the reconciliation and default sections before you sign anything.

If you already have a Pearl advance and the payments are too high

  1. Collect every agreement you signed, including any broker or consulting agreement, and note the Pearl entity named on each.
  2. Pull your payment history and total what you have paid against the purchased amount.
  3. Check for a personal guaranty, a confession of judgment and a reconciliation clause.
  4. Ask for a reconciliation in writing if your revenue has fallen and the contract allows it.
  5. Blocking debits or moving your account can be treated as a default under many agreements; check your contract before acting. Our article on whether you can stop daily MCA payments explains why.

If several advances are draining your account at once, a structured settlement may be an option. Talk to Business Debt Adjusters about your agreements before you miss a payment.
